The 2023 Kosher Vacation Guide to Morocco

We took a babymoon in Morocco in March-April of 2023. While it wasn’t a major deciding factor, the existence of kosher restaurants in Morocco was definitely a big plus. It’s definitely possible to eat well as kosher-keeping Jews in Morocco – no tuna wraps needed!

Dar Ima

If you’ve gotten jealous of watching Moroccans eat tagines or any traditional Moroccan food, you can get your fill at Dar Ima. They serve traditional tagines, couscous and vegetables, pastilla, and many other Moroccan delights.

Al Dente

Al Dente is your typical kosher pizza and pasta place, the kind you’d find in any Jewish neighborhood in America. We went on Saturday night and it was absolutely packed. We can’t say the food was incredible, but it’s good enough.

Wasabi

Every Jewish neighborhood needs an Asian place. Wasabi is just that. And it’s just across the street from Al Dente.

Kosher Hotels in Marrakesh

By kosher hotels, we mean hotels that have kosher restaurants in them. They’re not entirely kosher.

Kenzi Rose Garden

We stayed at the Kenzi Rose for our 4 days in Marrakesh and we absolutely loved it. The rooms are super clean and modern, the pool area is well-designed, and it’s located fairly close to the Medina. What we really loved was the staff of the hotel that ran games like darts or zumba classes in the water.

In terms of food, we booked Shabbat dinner at the Kosher Grill Bar of the Kenzi Rose. It wasn’t cheap but we’re very happy we ate there. The meal wasn’t extraordinary, but it was plentiful and tasty. We got lots of little salads, couscous and vegetables, chicken, meatballs, and a dessert that we can’t quite remember.

Kosher Supermarkets in Marrakesh

If you need a break from kosher restaurants, there is a kosher supermarket in Marrakesh called Chez Michel. We haven’t been, but you can find both kosher dairy and kosher meat products there.

Fes

Dragon Kosher

Dragon is the only official kosher restaurant in Fes, located in a posh hotel. We were the only ones eating there that night but that didn’t matter. The food was still great and they even gave us traditional Ramadan break-fast soup on the house.

Fes Jewish Community Center

We stayed in Fes for 2 nights and wedidn’t want to go to Dragon twice. So our driver took us to the Jewish Community Center where someone there grilled us some meat and packed some salads. We took the food back to our riad and ate it there. A bit pricey but was a good meal.
