Rashel: Well-designed and tasty Moroccan restaurant

After wandering around the Namal in Tel Aviv looking for a place to eat, we found Rashel right at the very end, by the river.

To start our meal, we ordered the frena bread with an assortment of dips. The bread was great but the dips were alright. We

The other starters we got were the chicken pastilla and barbari salad (on the house). The pastilla had the perfect balance of sweetness and crunch – maybe slightly too sweet for a starter but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

The salad was huge! Somewhat hard to eat because the beetroot strips were meters long, but otherwise it was nice.

By this point, we were already quite full but looked forward to the beef mushroom tagine. It wasn’t the best tagine we’ve had but it was definitely a generous portion and a hearty, filling dish (which we mostly took home for leftovers for the next night). We thought the tagine at another kosher Moroccan restaurant in Tel Aviv was better.

Surprisingly, the highlight of the evening was the dessert! Yes, it’s rare to find excellent pareve desserts, but even after everything we ate, this dessert just hit the spot.

We’re not entirely sure what was in this heavenly chocolate delight but the mousse balls of different flavours were delicious and the chocolate crumble underneath gave it a wonderful complementary crunch. We just wish we were hungrier to enjoy it more! (Disclaimer: Dessert was on the house)

Of course, no Moroccan dining experience is complete without sipping on some Moroccan tea (even if it’s 30 degrees at night). It was a lovely end to a lovely meal. (Disclaimer: Tea was on the house)
